As the youngest contributor to this series, 11 year old Alfie works as a showman helping his dad with rides at the fairground, a job he takes very seriously. Lover of a chippy, curry, football and the local shops, Alfie couldn’t be prouder of his local area, calling it “ten out of ten”.
Salfordians: The people make the city
2026 marks 100 years since Salford was officially granted city status, and Art with Heart on a mission to capture what it truly means to be from Salford, putting Salfordians firmly at the heart of the centenary celebrations. To celebrate Salford’s big birthday, we teamed up with local artists and communities across the city to create a brand-new podcast. Salfordians is a mini-series highlighting 10 people who have provided a fascinating snapshot into their lives, detailing Salford's past, present and hopes for the future, capturing a unique audio archive for future generations.
